Classic Spaghetti Bolognese Recipe
This hearty and flavorful spaghetti bolognese is perfect for a comforting dinner. It's a classic Italian-inspired dish that combines rich tomato sauce with ground beef and aromatic herbs.
Ingredients:
400g spaghetti
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 carrot, grated
500g ground beef
400g canned chopped tomatoes
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
100ml beef stock
Salt and black pepper to taste
Grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil for garnish
Instructions:
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the spaghetti according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until softened.
Add the grated carrot and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a wooden spoon.
Stir in the canned tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, and chili flakes (if using). Mix well.
Pour in the beef stock and bring the mixture to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and let it cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve the sauce over the cooked spaghetti. Top with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves.
Tips:
For an extra depth of flavor, add a splash of red wine while cooking the beef.
You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or pork for a different variation.
