Classic Spaghetti Bolognese Recipe

This hearty and flavorful spaghetti bolognese is perfect for a comforting dinner. It's a classic Italian-inspired dish that combines rich tomato sauce with ground beef and aromatic herbs.

Ingredients:

  • 400g spaghetti

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 carrot, grated

  • 500g ground beef

  • 400g canned chopped tomatoes

  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

  • 1 teaspoon dried basil

  • 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (optional)

  • 100ml beef stock

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

  • Grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the spaghetti according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until softened.

  3. Add the grated carrot and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a wooden spoon.

  5. Stir in the canned tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, and chili flakes (if using). Mix well.
